The Cypress Landing Veterans Community is a design-build development project consisting of 50 rental housing units for homeless and disabled low-income veterans. This Low Income Housing Tax Credit community will be constructed on approximately 6.36 acres of land.
Cypress Landing will be the second “permanent” affordable rental units in Hampton Roads developed for disabled and/or homeless veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces and will consist of 44 one-bedroom and 6 two-bedroom apartments. The non-profit developer, SECOND ACT COMMUNITIES, will provide some case management and coordinate additional supportive services through the local Veterans Administration Center and other area service providers. Any disabled and/or homeless veteran meeting the eligibility requirements can apply.
Twenty-five (25) apartments will be fully accessible and three (3) units will be sensory accessible. The remaining 22 apartments will be universally designed. Cypress Landing construction will be Platinum EarthCraft certified resulting in units 25% more efficient than the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). EarthCraft features will reduce resident utility costs and environmental pollution.
This will mimic the population of Cedar Grove apartments, opened in 2013, and will serve veterans who are at or below 50% of the area median income.
